NEW FISH CATEGORIES VOTED ON BY THE BBSC BOARD

Attention Anglers of the Big Bend Saltwater Classic -

As Board Members of the BBSC, each year we are faced with decisions for our tournament that depend on the release of state and federal regulation changes. This is always a difficult time because we want to create an event that is fun for all while promoting the legal harvestation of fish and upholding the integrity of the tournament.

The recent annoucement of the Red Snapper 9-day federal season has forced us to make some changes to the fish categories in all divisions. For that reason, we have decided to remove all species of snapper from the tournament for this year's event. Additionally, we have removed Gag grouper from the tournament as well due to the season closures in some of the tournament's waters. These decisions were made to help simplify the interpretation of our tournament rules. Click the link at the top of the page for the official rules of the tournament.

To help create a more competitive tournament, we have added 2 fish categories to the Master's divsion, Cobia and Warsaw Grouper. With the removal of Red Snapper, there are, once again, 6 categories being weighed in the Master's Division.

We appreciate everyone's understanding, input and concerns. We hope that our decisions are recevied with the understanding that we are doing this for the greater good of the tournament.

Thank you for your help and support.
